Brief

Context

For women, beauty is all in the details. From luscious hair to shiny toenails, every detail counts. Unfortunately, hair loss is becoming a common problem, even in younger women. It starts from a small handful of hair falling after washing or combing and then it can happen anytime of the day. Most women report that hair loss affects their beauty but also their self-confidence.

Recently in a French laboratory, a team of scientists who were doing research on improving blood circulation for cardiac patients discovered a formula that can help relieve and prevent hair loss. They are very excited to help women all over the world with hair fall problems and improve their beauty. They now need a creative mind to turn their formula into a brand new beauty product that cares for women’s hair loss.

Creative Challenge

This new product will be sold in beauty stores and department stores at a premium price. When your product will be placed on a beauty store shelf, women should be able to understand quickly what this new product is about and how it can help them. There are already many shampoos and other products that claim to help with hair loss problems so think of something truly different. It can be a shampoo, pills, a gel, or a comb that delivers the formula when you comb your hair or something completely new that could become a big success. Do not worry about how the formula works; the scientists will take care of that; instead, focus on what is the best way to deliver this new formula and how to make an appealing product for women.

In your product design, you would need to create key elements to introduce the brand such as the brand name, logo and the visual elements (label or others) that tell a story about the new brand.

You might want to start by putting yourself in the shoes of these women who are concerned about hair loss. What goes on in their heads? What would they want? Something that is easy to use, that looks professional and backed-up by science, yet something that makes them look and feel good and could be used on a regular basis like any beauty product. You can also research the latest cosmetic and beauty products as a source of inspiration or think about disruptive ideas (remember how Apple disrupted the music industry with iPods or creating a revolutionary smartphone).

Don't forget to think of a name and a logo for this new beauty brand. You may be inspired by its French heritage, its commitment to preventing/treating hair loss for women, the fact that it is a formula developed by scientists, or something totally different. Remember that it is a premium brand so please don't make it look or sound too cheap.
